The Aeroclubul României grass field south-west of the city. Gliders, a tow plane, light singles and the occasional An-2; busiest at weekends, and it hosts the Craiova air show. It is a working club field, not a museum — the aircraft are visible from the perimeter road and that is where a visitor stays.
An-2s, light singles and a grass strip
One mown grass runway, a line of hangars along the northern edge, An-2 biplanes and light singles parked on the grass and on a short concrete apron, and dismantled airframes and engines lying at the field edge. It sits between housing and industrial units, so the aircraft are visible from the perimeter road. Photographed 16 and 17 August 2026.
Getting close to it
The field is fenced, the road gate is chained and it carries a guarded-site notice, so there is no walking in. Everything here was shot from the public road along the boundary, which is where anyone who just wants to look at the aircraft should stay. Flying in, or going airside, is through the aeroclub.
