Looking down the channel from the pavement end at dusk, the Habitat block framed between the spruces. September 2026
A stepped water channel set into the planted strip on Calea București, running away from the pavement towards the orange-and-grey Habitat block behind it. Travertine walls and broad shallow steps, a green-tiled channel with jets down the middle, ornamental grasses and young spruce closing it in on both sides. Not signed and not a monument — a piece of recent landscaping that works better than it needs to, and the sort of thing you only find because you walked past it.
Where exactly
In the strip in front of Habitat Suites and its bistro, at Calea București 54a, on the airport side of the centre. The map pin is the building; the channel is the few metres of planting directly in front of it, between the pavement and the car park. Electroputere Mall is a short walk further east on the same road.
It may well be dry
Ornamental water in this city runs when it is switched on and not otherwise. It was running in early September 2026, at dusk, which is when the travertine looks best. Out of season, or on any day the pumps are off, expect an empty channel and a set of steps.
