Penny and Lidl, Bulevardul Dacia — discounters side by side
The Penny and Lidl totems on Bulevardul Dacia in Craiova seen from the shared car park, apartment blocks behind
Two discount supermarkets on one corner with one car park between them, on the boulevard that runs north out of the station district. This is the everyday shop for that side of town: no mall, no escalator, trolleys under a canopy and a Bolt Food scooter parked at the door. Lidl opened first, Penny came in beside it in 2026 — the sign still says Bulevardul Dacia on it as if the street were the brand — and the two are close enough that you can compare a price by walking seventy metres.
Hours, off the signs
Penny: Monday to Saturday 07:30–22:00, Sunday 08:00–20:00, painted on the pillar by the trolleys. Lidl: Monday to Saturday 07:00–22:00, Sunday 08:00–19:00, on the totem. Both are on the early side by Craiova standards, which matters if you are the one buying breakfast.
Penny: red pillar with the hours on it, trolleys under the canopy, a courier’s scooter at the doorLidl across the shared forecourt, artics parked along the lorry bays
The car park
Shared, free, and posted at a two-hour limit. It has lorry bays along the Lidl side and takes charging cars on the Lidl side too. Lidl has toilets. Walking, the crossing is on the boulevard by the Lidl totem; the blocks opposite are where most of the customers come from.
