The newer mall, on the west side — supermarket, food court, DIY store and a large car park. Inside it is two levels under a translucent roof — chain fashion names, the Food Avenue food court, Cineplexx, Game World and a gym, signed from the main run. Wide, quiet and bright in the middle of a weekday. Two ways in that most people use: the main entrance under the perforated red canopy, and the smaller P7 door straight off the covered parking. The car park is colour-coded by zone and the door you came through tells you which colour you left the car in. The tram runs along Calea Severinului and stops a short walk from the doors, so you can reach it without a car.
Prices, 24 August 2026: in the food court at FRY, an American cheeseburger 10.00 lei and a 350 ml soft drink 7.99 lei — 17.99 lei the pair, paid by card. The smashed burger was on the counter screen at 21.99 lei. Written down with its date rather than kept up to date — a record of what an afternoon cost, not a live price.
Air conditioning6 / 10
Mediocre for a building this size — cooler than the street, but not cold.
Coffee and a sit-down
Botanic Cafe is on the ground floor, open to the mall street rather than shut behind a door — a black arched metal screen with trailing plants hung through it, velvet armchairs and banquettes in teal, blue and burnt orange, a herringbone floor, and a bar with bottle shelves at the back, so it runs past coffee into drinks.
The cinema
Cineplexx sits on the same level as the shops, five screens numbered off a foyer with armchairs and low tables in it. Ticket desk and concession counter share the same frontage — popcorn, fridges, menus on screens above the till. Films are shown in the original language with Romanian subtitles unless the listing says DUB, so most of what is on is watchable in English. The week’s programme is on a board at the entrance and on the Cineplexx site.
The food court
FRY is the burger and fries counter in the Food Avenue food court — fried in peanut oil, which is written across the wall above the counter, with peanuts in lit boxes down the panelling beside it. Burgers, fries and milkshakes; the current offer runs on a screen at the till, and you sit at the shared food-court tables. The seating itself is better than a food court usually gets: a long leather banquette backing onto a planted bed, loose chairs, and full-height glazing along the west side — late in the day the sun comes in low across the tables and the whole floor goes orange.
The food-court seating late in the day — banquette, planting behind it, and the sun coming in low through the west glazing
